So why didn't this concept pan out?

Would a dev or someone privy be able to explain what happened (or didn't happen?)

Mostly - the minecraft developers/community. we were banking on an api. when it became clear it wasn't coming, we moved to bukkit. bukkit got killed. we moved to forge, etc etc. it took a toll on us repeatedly.

Several design iterations that went beyond a reasonable scope for the people involved.

School, work, and adulthood.

Not enough direction given to Moo to actually get things coded. He was a good sport for far longer than he needed to be. Thanks, Moo.

Lack of API despite assurances by people 'in the know' with Mojang.

We had a reasonable amount of people offer to help with things but, to my understanding, folks didn't stay in touch. Sheez and Moo might know more about that.
