Test Nations
In the days of yore..
Before the fall of the world and Axan's sacrifice, before the appearance of the Magi and the Necromancers, before even the four elemental nations there were the predecessors. Nations that have long since turned to dust. Ruins of their great cities stood only as relics of ages past, speaking of glories fallen, ambitions squandered, and war.
Until now.
The world is still ancient, and many peoples have roamed it's surface. Now, on this day set far previous from those you have seen before, the world is dominated by four distinct nations.
The Merah Confederacy
The Merah Confederacy was a loose collection of allied city-states, come together to survive the ravages of outsider attacks. Culturally quite diverse, the Merahvian's approached trade and war and social interactions with a wide variety of styles, which lead to a surprising number of successes on the field, both that of war and of diplomacy. The ability to keep a foe on their toes, to defy expectations, was a keystone of their success as a kingdom. Over time they fell to internal strife and struggles, disbanding into small cities, then towns, and eventually naught but dust.
Astracarn, Kingdom of the Seven Stars
The Kingdom of the Seven Stars was founded on a series large islands that, at the time of founding, matched the pattern of the seven brightest stars of the heavens. A nation of xenophobic scholars and astrologers, they wrote prophecies indicating that when the stars aligned once more with the island chain, The Kingdom of the Seven Stars would enter a golden age that would place them above all the nations of the world. It is unfortunate then, that the islands (resting on a particularly nasty fault line) sank, forcing the Astracarn to find new homes. It is unknown if their prophecies ever came to pass, as the xenophobic Astracarni simply vanished after some time, never to be seen again.
Garrodum
The people of Garrodum were quiet and stoic and hardworking to a fault. Through sweat and toil, they accumulated vast riches that allowed them to maintain an expansive network of mercenaries. This not only protected the Garrodum territories from many incursions, but gave them a force with which to enact their own reign over the nearby cities and countries. It also, unfortunately, proved to be their downfall, as several bands of mercenaries came together to plunder the lush and materially rich cities of the Garrodum, leaving only smoking craters in their wake.
The Mavi
The Mavi were a loose conglomeration of tribes, existing as a nomadic peoples for hundreds of years. Having tamed the boars of their homeland and made them into domestic mounts, the Mavi were able to ride and enact lightning fast raids seemingly from out of nowhere. Even unmounted, the Mavi people were quick on their feet and adept at sneaking in unseen, grabbing goods and supplies from their foes, and then leaving before anyone was the wiser. A wizards experiment gone awry brought natural disasters upon their homelands, depriving the Mavi and their mounts from the wheats that made up a majority of their foodstuffs. Within two seasons, the Mavi had vanished, their bones only to be unearthed an age later.
